This was an unscheduled event to finish brushing and lopping on the Backbone Trail in Upper Zuma Canyon. We had visited this are on September 8, 2018. There was one lone SMMTC volunteer. Prepared tools and hiked to the bridge. Began brushing Wild Rose bushes growing out into the bridge and trail. Removed overhead branches from trail corridor that would be an obstruction for equestrians. Trimmed lots of Ceanothus and Laurel Sumac crowding the trail. Removed mustard plants and non-native grasses where they were growing out into the trail corridor. The trail is in good condition and the re-route we did has firmed up and looks like it has always been there! Temperatures hit 96 degrees when I finished at 3 PM. Volunteer hours: 1 volunteers @ 8 hours = 8 hours Feet of trail maintained: 1600
